Incentives that encourage Users to complete a Course can be an effective way to increase engagement and raise the overall number of completed Courses.

We are going to address the following question:

How Do I Assign Points to a User when a Course is Completed?

Related: Click Here for info on assigning a Badge to a User when a Course is Completed.

CourseCure provides the ability to add a set number of Points to a User based on Triggers. In this example, we are going to run through the steps to assign 50 Points to a User who completes the “Learning to Skydive” Course.

The first step is to create a Course. (Details on Course creation can be found in the Course Setup Overview and Course Builder articles)

Once you have your Course created, you can set it to assign Points to Users when they complete that Course. This will be done by setting up a Points Rule in the Points > Setup section.

The Points Rule will handle the adding of the Points.

The green plus icon on the top of the Points Rules section can be clicked to begin the Points creation process.

Set a Name for the Points Rule and click the green Apply button.

We have set the Rule name as “50 Points for Completing Course” in this case.

The Points Rule has a Name so the Edit Setup Rules section will appear and the various settings can be configured for this specific Points Rule.

We want this rule to assign 50 Points when a Course is completed, so the settings can be adjusted accordingly.

In the example shown below, Users will be issued 50 Points when they mark the “Learning to Skydive” Course as complete.

The blue Save or green Save & Close button can be clicked once all settings are configured.

The Points Rule has now been created and any Users who complete the “Learning to Skydive” Course will be issued 50 Points.

More details on Points can be found in the Points – Setup Overview article.

CourseCure includes the ability to add Points to Users and they can redeem those Points for items like Badges, access to Levels, etc.

We are going to address the following question:

How Do Users Redeem Points?

The first step is to setup Point Rules. (Details on Points Rules setup creation can be found in the Points Redemption section of the Points Setup Overview article).

Once you have your Points Rules created, you can allow Users to redeem their Points for items.

In this example, we are going to run through the steps to create a Redemption button for a Badge named “Night Sky”.

A page/post can be created on the site and Shortcodes can be inserted to display the Redemption buttons.

The Shortcodes that will display the Redemption option on the live site can be found in the Points Redemption section in the Shortcodes column.

Note: The Redemption URL can also be used to allow for Redemption. The Redemption URL can be found in the Points > Redemption > Click to edit Rule > Settings section.

Inserting the Shortcode or using the Redemption URL on a page/post will allow the User to click the button or link and run through the Redemption process.

The example below shows the Shortcode inserted into a WordPress page.

Click the blue Save/Update button and the page is all set.

The button will now appear on the live site and the Users can redeem their Points to be issued the corresponding Badge.

A Quiz can be added to a Course and it can be configured to require a user pass that Quiz in order to access the next Lesson.

We are going to address the following question:

How can I set passing a Quiz be required to access the next Lesson in a Course?

You can protect the Lessons using WishList Member and set the specific Membership Level to access the protected content.

Next, you would set that same Membership Level to be added to the user once they pass the Quiz.

This same method of protection and access could also be applied to a Module.

This example will show the protection and access being set up using WishList Member with CourseCure.

The first step is creating a Quiz and adding it to your Course. More details on adding a Quiz to a Course can be found in the Documentation Here

The Course can also be set as a Linear Course which would require the user to mark the current Lesson as complete before they can move onto the next Lesson. More details on this process can be found in the Documentation Here.

Setting Course Protection and Access

Once you have your Course created and the Quiz set under the Lesson of your choice, you can set up the protection and access so a user needs to pass that Quiz in order to access the next Lesson.

In this example, the Course is named “Learning to Skydive” and the first Module is named “The Basics”

We will be showing how to insert a Quiz after the first Lesson in the first Module of the Course. Passing the Quiz will be required to move onto the next Lesson.

The Lesson(s) after the Quiz can be set to protected and the user needing to have access to the set Membership Level(s) in order to access the protected Lesson(s).

Click the Open Lesson icon to edit the Protection and Access settings for that Lesson.

The Edit Lesson page will appear and the WishList Member section can be used to set the protection and access for the Lesson.

In this example, this now means a user must be logged in with the Gold Membership Level in order to access the “Preparing to Jump” Lesson.

Setting the Action in the Quiz

The next step is setting up an Action in the Quiz that will add the user to the Gold Membership Level when they pass the Quiz.

This can be setup in the Quizzes > *Click on Quiz to Edit* > Actions section of CourseCure.

Click the green Add Action button.

The Select the Action box will appear and the “When this happens…” “Then do this…” options can be set.

Select “When a User Passes” and “WishList Member – Add to Level”

You can then select the desired Membership Level(s) to add to the user when they pass the Quiz.

Click the blue Add Action button to create the Action.

The newly created Action will now appear in the Actions list.

This means a User will need to be logged in to take the Course and must pass the Quiz in order to access the next Lesson after the Quiz.

If the User passes the Quiz, they will be added to the Gold Membership Level based on the Action set for that Quiz and can then access the protected Lesson that requires the Gold Membership Level.

CourseCure includes a library of Badges that can be used. But, it is very likely you will want to create your own Badges at some point. You have the ability to create Badges using the images of your choice. This allows you to customize the Badges to your site.

We are going to address the following question:

How Do I Create a Badge?

A Badge can be added in the Badges > Library section.

This will allow you to use that Badge just like any other Badge.

A new Badge can be created by clicking the green Plus button.

That will bring up the Upload Badge(s) pop up. This will display the WordPress Media section and a new image can be uploaded in the Upload files tab.

Click the Select Files button to find the image file on your computer or simply drag and drop the image file to upload.

Once the file is uploaded, you can now click the image and then click the blue Select an Image button.

The Edit Badge section will now appear.

The Name and Description can be set for the Badge. The Description will appear on the list of Badges in the Library section.

The Drag tool can be used to crop the image and set the Badge how you want it to be displayed. You can select the entire image or only a portion using the crop tool. The blue Crop button needs to be clicked once the dimensions are set.

The four dimension examples show how the Badge will appear in those set sizes.

If the “Redeemable by Points” option is enabled, the Badge can be redeemed by Users with Points.

The blue Save or green Save & Close button can be clicked once all settings are configured.

The newly created Badge will now appear on the list.

The Badge can now be used like any other Badge.

We are going to address the following question:

CourseCure provides the ability to add a Badge to a User based on Triggers. In this example, we are going to run through the steps to assign a “Night Sky” Badge to a User who completes the “Learning to Skydive” Course.

The first step is to create a Course. (Details on Course creation can be found in the Course Setup Overview and Course Builder articles)

Once you have your Course created, you can set it to assign a Badge to Users when they complete that Course. This will be done by setting up a Badge Rule in the Badges > Setup section.

The Points Rule will handle the adding of the Points.

The green plus icon on the top of the Points Rules section can be clicked to begin the Points creation process.

Set a Name for the Badge Rule and click the green Apply button.

We have set the Rule name as “Night Sky Badge for Completing Course” in this case.

The Badge Rule has a Name so the Edit Setup Rules section will appear and the various settings can be configured for this specific Badge Rule.

We want this rule to assign the “Night Sky” Badge when a Course is completed, so the settings can be adjusted accordingly.

In the example shown below, Users will be issued “Night Sky” Badge when they mark the “Learning to Skydive” Course as complete.

The blue Save or green Save & Close button can be clicked once all settings are configured.

The Badge Rule has now been created and any Users who complete the “Learning to Skydive” Course will be issued the “Night Sky” Badge.
