WishList Member Self Check

The WishList Member Self Check can be used to diagnose common issues that may be related to WordPress plugin installs or updates, site memory, server environment, etc. If you find that you are having any unexpected issues with WishList Member, you can run the Self Check and it will display suggested solutions for any issues it finds.

Of course, you can also contact our support team if it displays any potential errors and you would like some assistance.

More details on running a Self Check and the messages it can display are shown below.

WishList Member Self Check URL

You can easily do a quick check using the URL below. You will just need to replace “your-site.com” with your own site URL.

Self Check URL: http://your-site.com/wp-content/plugins/wishlist-member/selfcheck/

As an example, if your site URL is the following: https://wlmtest.com/

You would just need to enter the following as the Self Check URL:

https://wlmtest.com/wp-content/plugins/wishlist-member/selfcheck/

You can then go ahead and enter that full URL into any web browser and it will display the results to you within a few seconds.

Note, if you are running WishList Member X, the URL is slightly different. It would be the following:

http://your-site.com/wp-content/plugins/wishlist-member-x/selfcheck

The screenshot below shows the results of a Self Check that displays no errors (all green check marks) for a site. If there had been any errors, they would be displayed as a red X.

Self Check Messages

There are six checks that are run during a Self Check. Each Self Check message provides more details in its own article. Quick links have been provided below.

The Self Check option is available to help whenever you need it. It can diagnose common issues and provide solutions you can use.

Your WishList Member license key is used to activate the WishList Member plugin on your site. This means WishList Member requires that your server allows your site to connect with the WishList Member Activation and Update Center. This enables license activation and the ability to display notifications of WishList Member version updates on your WishList Member Dashboard.

But what if something interrupts that connection?

Access being denied to the Activation and Update Center can sometimes occur if your server/hosting provider is blocking requests to the WishList Member licensing server.

If this is the case, you will just need to request the server/your hosting provider configure their firewall to allow access to the WishList Member Activation and Update Center.

Here is the information that will be required by the server/your hosting provider in order to accomplish this request. They should be able to take care of this for you fairly quickly.

IP Address: 3.221.27.138
and
IP Address: 3.215.17.189
Ports: 80 and 443
Domain Name: wishlistactivation.com
File Requesting Access: wishlist-member/wpm.php
Purpose of Connection: Software License Activation

Note the server/your hosting provider will need to allow the following:

IP Address: 67.227.248.98
Ports: 80 and 443
Domain Name: wishlistproducts.com
File Requesting Access: wishlist-member/wpm.php
Purpose of Connection: Software updates, version checking and news feed

Once those adjustments are made, you (and your site) should be all set.

The Files Consistency Check error can occur when the WishList Member Self Check finds inconsistencies in the WishList Member files uploaded to the server.

This check ensures that all files within the WishList Member install are consistent and will detect any possible corrupt files that can occasionally occur during an FTP upload.

Files Consistency Check

If you see a red X, this means the WishList Member files may have been corrupted during upload. This can happen occasionally and is typically caused by using FTP to upload the plugin file.

Simply re-installing WishList Member will usually resolve the issue and the Files Consistency Check will return a green check mark.

Using the WordPress Plugin Uploader is the recommended method for uploading the WishList Member plugin file.

You can always contact our support team if you continue to have issues.

There is page commonly referred to as the WishList Member “Magic Page”. This important page is created automatically when WishList Member is installed and activated on your site.

The URL of this page ends with /wishlist-member

As an example, if the site URL is wlptest.com the magic page will appears on the following:

wlptest.com/wishlist-member

This mandatory page which must exist in order to process member registrations is named “WishList Member” in the WordPress Pages section and cannot be deleted (but the permalink, text, etc. can be edited – more info on the below). This page will not appear in your site navigation.

WishList Member Magic Page

You can edit the name of the page and the Permalink if you want. You can also delete the text on that page if you would like.

Restore The Magic Page

If the “Magic Page” has been sent to the Trash within WordPress, you can restore this page and it will resolve any issues caused by it's previous deletion. Issues like member registration not successfully being processed, etc.

If the WishList Member “Magic Page” has been permanently deleted (it does not appear in the Trash), you can copy a Registration URL for any membership level and navigate to it in a web browser while not logged into the live site. This will automatically regenerate the “Magic Page” and resolve any potential issues caused by its previous deletion.

The Memory Limit Check error can occur when the WishList Member Self Check finds a lower memory limit than is ideal for running WishList Member.

Memory Limit Check

If you see a red X instead of a green check mark when you run the WishList Member Self Check, we recommend upgrading to 64 MB of memory (which is typically enough) but 128 MB of memory is even better. It just depends if your hosting provider can offer 128 MB of memory to you. They should be able to let you know fairly quickly once you check with them.

Upgrading to 64 MB of memory is enough in many cases.

If you have access to your PHP.ini file, you can change the line in PHP.ini

If your line shows 32M, then you can try 64M or even 128M:
memory_limit = 64M ;

Maximum amount of memory a script may consume (64MB)

If you don’t have access to PHP.ini, you can try adding the following to an .htaccess file:

php_value memory_limit 64M

You can add the following line to your wp-config.php file:

Increasing memory allocated to PHP
define(‘WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '64M');

If you are unsure how to go about this, we recommend contacting your hosting provider and providing them with the information explained above. They will very likely know how to upgrade this for you an can take care of that for you.

You can also always contact our support team if you continue to have issues.
